Brief explanation on the functioning of the new clutch developed by EVR for kart engines.

Our project was born with the aim of optimizing the stability of the rear end when the kart is entering the corner After 2 years of tests aimed at optimizing this problem, we have developed a special mechanism, which manages the 2-stroke engine brake of this displacement.

The tests produced a result of clear improvement in feeling in the corner entry phase and at the rear the typical hopping that occurs due to the rapid reduction of the ratio, while maintaining the maximum possible engine brake.

In practice, when you downshift gears quickly, an inverse torque is generated (drive wheel that pushes the engine and brings it into overspeed, often with consequent gearbox or engine breakage). This mechanism sensitive to torque inversion, allows slight slippage of the clutch to align the 2 speeds (engine / wheels), improving stability at the rear.

The clutch was used with positive results (5 races disputed and 5 victories achieved). Both the races and the tests did not reveal any critical issues in the project and even less premature wear of the clutch discs or the mechanism. Furthermore, in the event of engine broken, there are no unpredictable locking of the drive wheels, a big step forward for safety in this critical phase. The clutch can be configured with more or less intervention of the engine brake according to the rider's feeling.

For the use of this clutch, permission was requested from the International Federation, which gave us a favorable opinion to use it.
